from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint – it’s more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly… time-y wimey… stuff.

One-Way Street

Congrats! You’re the owner of a new time machine. The catch? It comes in two models, each traveling one way only: the past OR the future. Which do you choose, and why?

My first thought on this-

If you had either machine you could never return to the present. If you took the time machine that could only travel forward you would never be able to get back and similarly if you had a machine that could travel backwards through time you could never use it to come forward and back to the present.

So I would like to pick the Time Machine that could travel forward in time. With one minor change.

It could indeed travel forward but only to get you through mundane daily tasks. So you could travel for, say up to, an hour but nothing more.

Here’s a fun fact. Did you know we are all time travellers anyway, moving only forward in time. Perhaps this is why so many people want to live in the past.

downloadIn conclusion I would not take either machine. I would not want to be trapped in the future because I am the sum of my past and I would not want to be trapped in the past because I could be so much more in time.

And this idea goes against everything I have learned from “The Doctor, in the TARDIS, next stop everywhere.”

  1. ur first para made me remember the Adam Sandler’s movie ‘Click’…he skips such daily mundane tasks, unwanted meetings and ultimately skips so much..that he travels in a future where he is extraordinary fat, divorced and generally leading an unhappy life… 🙂

      1. 2-2. It’s not to bad because the second part of it is DJ-ing the karaoke night and I get to have a few drinks. It actually is like a night out.
